BREAKING: Today in a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson finally overturned Roe v. Wade.

Speaking about the decision, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, “I applaud the SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe v. Wade today. This is the beginning of our fight, not the end.  Those who have used the pro-life movement for political gain will surrender. Those who believe every life bears the image of our Creator will persevere. I will persevere.  I hope you will stand with me and uphold, once and for all, our duty to protect all human life, born and unborn!”

At issue in Dobbs v. Jackson was the State of Mississippi’s Gestational Age Act, which banned most abortions after 15 weeks.  This law clashed with previous Supreme Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which established that a constitutional right to an abortion existed for up to 24 weeks into a pregnancy, on the basis that the unborn was not “viable” until that point in time.

The decision today in Dobbs decisively refutes this flawed precedent.  In the coming months and years, abortion law will no longer be decided at the level of the Supreme Court – it will be decided by individual states in a democratic process.  This makes our work – to safeguard the precious lives of the unborn – all the more urgent.  That’s why CAVPAC-endorsed candidates are staunchly pro-life and will fight to secure the right to life for all persons – born and unborn.
